General Rules |
|
1. Membership is not transferable. |
|
2. Only members may use the club field, a guest of a member may fly up to three times in any one year, with an active member at no additional cost. |
|
3. All members must be covered by B.M.F.A insurance; Club Officers may require proof of insurance at any time. |
|
4. No persons shall fly a model before 10:30 am from Monday to Saturday or from 11 am on Sundays or bank holidays. No persons shall fly any model after 20:00 pm Monday to Saturday and 18:30 pm on Sundays and bank holidays. During the winter all flying will cease one hour before sunset. |
|
5. No litter shall be left at the field (Take it Home) |
|
6. If a member leaves the club at any time, no refund of fees in full or part will be applicable. |
|
7. Membership shall cease if club fees are not paid by 31stst December of each year this includes B.M.F.A. Isurance, any member failing to do so will be subject to a £50 rejoining fee. |
|
8. As from the 1st January 2007 the sharing of frequency numbers shall only be allowed in a family situation, Existing members already sharing will be allowed to continue. |
|
9. No dogs to be allowed on the field |
|
10. New members are to complete an application form and return it to the club Secretary; if no vacancies exist at the time of application then they shall be registered on a waiting list to be held by the Secretary. Order of new membership will be decided by the date a completed application form was received by the Secretary. |
|
11. Lydd model flying club is designated a fixed wing club as registered with the B.M.F.A, existing members who fly Helicopters but who joined as fixed wing pilots will be able to continue to fly their helicopter within the rules of the club. As from 1st January 2007; new members’ will only be permitted to fly fixed wing aircraft. |
|
12. Any member not happy with the conduct of a fellow member should in the first instance approach that member. If further action is necessary; a complaint should be made to a committee member. |
|
13. In the event of any member contravening any of the rules; he or she will be given a verbal warning, if bad conduct continues then a written warning will be issued by the committee. If this does not resolve the issue, the committee are empowered to expel said member from the club. No refund of fees in full or part will be applicable. |
|
14. All new members are subject to one year’s probation, during which they must conduct themselves in the manner applicable to all other members. During the probationary period new members may raise any points they may have but are not entitled to vote on club meetings. |

|
SAFETY |
|
1. As from 1st January 2007, all full members will be classed as safety officers, the election of named Safety Officers will cease. |
|
2. No person shall run an engine unless adequately silenced. Engines must be 82db or less at a distance of seven meters from the front of the aircraft and both sides when at full throttle. |
|
3. All members to ensure they have a substantial restraining system for their model. |
|
4. No unnecessary flying over the road, with the exception of landing and taking off. |
|
5. There shall be no more than four models in the air at any one time. |
|
6. It is the responsibility of all pilots to ensure their aircraft is airworthy and safe. |
|
7. Pilots must always display a frequency number on the transmitter pennant, flight box or both. |
|
8. Pilots should not allow any aircraft to fly above 400 feet. |
|
9. No person shall fly solo until they can demonstrate to the committee that they are able to control an aircraft in a safe and controlled manner. |
|
10. Pilots will only stand in the landing / taking off area when executing these manoeuvres, pilots must return to the flight line as soon as possible. |
|
11. If more than one member is flying they should decide on left or right hand circuits and subsequent pilots should follow this pattern. |
|
12. At no time during flight are pilots to fly towards or over the pit area. |
|
13. At all times pilots must communicate to other pilots of their intention to take off or land. Pilots should call “retrieving” before walking out on to the strip. Pilots must stand close enough to each other to communicate their intentions. |
|
14. When three or more pilots are flying the safety netting will be erected. |
|
15. Models must not be taxied past the safety netting i.e.. the pit area |
|
16. It is the responsibility of all members to check their frequency channel is clear, in the event of members sharing crystal numbers. Guest pilots are to fly on the same frequency as the members responsible for him / her. It is the responsibility of all members and guests to check the frequency is clear on the peg board if it is in use, (the club frequency system should negate this). |

17. The above rules apply to All Radio controlled aircraft. |
